St. Pats Day in Chicago

It's never too early (or late) to plan a good St. Pats day in Chicago. People from all over come into the city to enjoy the party and play Irish for the day. My friends and I have some odd rituals but we love it and look forward to getting together to drink Guinness at 7am (or earlier). I have a quick list of specials in the city that could add some flavor (or green) to your day.

Go Green at Koi and Chen's on St. Patrick's Day
Guests will enjoy special GREEN menu items like Vegetable Dumplings ($4.95), Edamame ($4.50) and Green Tea Ice Cream ($3.95) at Koi and Chens.  Cocktail specials at Chens on St. Patrick's Day include $3 Sapporo Drafts, $3 Sake Bombs and Half Price Martinis ($4, usually $8).

St. Patrick's Day Specials at Chicago Cut Steakhouse
Chicago Cut Steakhouse features all-day festivities and menu specials in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.  Guests can enjoy Chicago Cut-style Corned Beef Hash and Two Poached Eggs with house-made tomato marmalade for breakfast ($14); or Corned Beef and Cabbage with New Potatoes ($19) and a decadent Peppermint Paddy Milkshake made with Homer’s Vanilla Bean ice cream, fresh peppermint and a shortbread cookie garnish for lunch and dinner ($9).

  1. What a wonderful website! Can you make a recommendation for me? On Thursday 3-17-11 (St. Pat's Day & my B-day!) I have a friend coming into town. We are going to a show at the Chase Auditorium (6:30-9:30). I am looking for a place to get an early dinner. I am new to Chicago so any advice you can give would be great. Thanks so much - Luanne
